Instructor Manual (Part FCL edition)

On-Track Aviation, as the leader in the field of instructor training, have published a new Instructor Manual which covers a variety of courses and includes Threat Error Management (TEM). The book is published in a loose leaf format allowing you to purchase individual sections. Please note we do not offer an amendment service

The Instructor Manual gives clear colourful briefings and easy to follow development notes which follow logical teaching steps thus allowing the instructor to teach the exercises in simple building blocks working from the known to the unknown. There are useful sections covering naviagtion techniques, example PPL / LAPL syllabi and advice to instructors including common student errors

The teaching techniques described are derived from many years of instruction both in military and civilian flying schools and taking their best practices and putting them all together in one easy to use manual

Part 10 Upset Prevention Recovery Training (UPRT) reflects the latest Part FCL requirements for teaching Advanced UPRT (FCL.745.A) and training instructors to deliver Advanced UPRT (FCL.745.A)

About the Author

Alan Newton by PA28
Alan Newton was born in Cheshire and after leaving College joined the Royal Air Force in 1979. During his 17 years in the Royal Air Force Alan saw operational tours on the Victor during the Falklands Conflict and the VC10 during the Gulf War. He also spent many years as a flying instructor on the Tucano and Jet Provost teaching both ab-initio and qualified pilots gaining an A2 Instructor Category. After leaving the Royal Air Force Alan joined Cathay Pacific Airways. For the next 25 years he flew the Boeing 747 classic, Boeing 747-400 and Boeing 747-8 before leaving in 2021 to work full time at On-Track Aviation

He is an FRTOL Examiner, Flight Examiner, GR Examiner, Senior Examiner, Flight Instructor Examiner and a Class Rating Examiner on both land and seaplanes and he writes articles for Flight Training News. He also holds FCL.900(c), FCL.1000(c) and Senior Examiner privileges for the Danish CAA [Trafikstyrelsen].In 2007 Alan was awarded the Chipmunk Trophy by the British Aerobatics Association. In 2014 he received a Master Air Pilot Certificate from the Honourable Company of Air Pilots and in 2015 was elected a Fellow of the Royal Aeronautical Society. Alan is a Director of On-Track Aviation Limited and is the Head of Training

Alan has a varied instructional background from teaching in the Royal Air Force, Cathay Pacific Airways and at a number of ATOs/DTOs. He has many thousands of instructional hours on a variety of aircraft types both including operations on land and water
