General
Courses are avialble to EASA and UK licence holders
The radiotelephony training covers all the aspects of VHF communications and can help prepare candidates for the PPL/LAPL theoretical knowledge communications examination and the UK FRTOL practical examination
The courses offered are applicable to pilots of all categories of aircraft
Examinations
At the end of training the candidate may attempt the PPL/LAPL theoretical knowledge communications examination and/or the UK FRTOL practical examination. Please note that the FRTOL practical examination is taken with an FRTOL Examiner, of which there are a number on the staff of On-Track Aviation
You should allow at least half a day to complete the FRTOL practical examination and 1 day if you intend to complete both the PPL/LAPL theoretical knowledge communications examination and FRTOL practical examination
Training
The training assumes that the candidate has a basic understanding of the material contained in the references at the bottom of the page, in particular UK CAA CAP 413 Radiotelephony Manual
The training is normally carried out by a FRTOL Examiner who will guide the candidate through the syllabus ensuring that all the relevant areas are covered
The training takes place at On-Track Aviation, Wellesbourne, Warwickshire in well equipped, air conditioned and spacious classrooms on mutually agreed days. Please contact us for further information [info@ontrackaviation.com]
Courses
1 Day Brush Up Course
This course is for aeroplane, helicopter, glider, balloon, airship and microlight pilots who have completed all of the pre-course study material and have reasonable practical experience in using a radio in flight, such as student solo flight. The course leads up to the PPL/LAPL theoretical knowledge communications examination which will be attempted at the end of the day.The cost of the PPL/LAPL theoretical knowledge communications examination is included in the price. The FRTOL practical examination will need to be taken on a separate day
2 Day Brush Up Course
This course is for aeroplane, helicopter, glider, balloon, airship and microlight pilots who have completed some of the pre-course study material and have some practical experience in using a radio in flight, such as dual flying with an instructor. The course leads up to the PPL/LAPL theoretical knowledge communications examination which will be sat at the end of the final day. The cost of the PPL/LAPL theoretical knowledge communications examination is included in the price. The FRTOL practical examination will need to be taken on a separate day
5 Day Intensive Course
This course is for aeroplane, helicopter, glider, balloon, airship and microlight students who have completed some of the pre-course study material. It is designed for those students who are finding understanding the subject difficult, and those who have little practical experience. The course leads up to the PPL/LAPL theoretical knowledge communications examination which will be sat at the end of the final day. The cost of the PPL/LAPL theoretical knowledge communications examination is included in the price. The FRTOL practical examination will need to be taken on a separate day
English Language for Pilots
